Engaging and Developmental Fun for All Ages!

I highly recommend 'Snack Monster' for every parent, and it's an absolute must-have for OTs and SLPs working to encourage kids to speak, count, and take turns. I played this game with my two young children, both under 5, and my oldest, who has learning and developmental challenges, had an absolute blast. 'Snack Monster' isn't just fun; it also revealed how much my oldest can achieve with the structured turn-taking and counting elements the game provides. While their favorite part was, of course, eating the snacks, the game offers so much more in terms of developmental support and engagement.

Very fast paced straightforward and fun game

The game’s design, including the packaging is eye catching and adorable.

The gameplay is straightforward and simple but a blast to play and when playing with little ones, it gets very erratic and chaotic but a ton of fun.

I greatly appreciate the alternative game mode of not playing with actual food, as I am type 1 diabetic and also from the “less messy” standpoint.

That said, I’ve already thought of ways to play with healthy snack alternatives with nieces, nephews, and friend’s kids.

I even played the game virtually with one of my nieces and she enjoyed it immensely. Especially the aspects of directing me as proxy on her turns 😋.

I also decided to try to play it with actual cats. One of mine, Bebop is just one year old recently, so he took to it. My fifteen year old cat was intrigued but stuck around for the actual treats (limited to two each for the game).

It was quite entertaining to attempt playing this with my two boys.

My one suggestion/criticism is that the spinner is excellent and robust as well as easy to use.

However, I think that the addition of a plate made of similar material would be extremely beneficial as, if you don’t have a hard surface to use or say want to play outside at a park; this plate could solve that.

Overall, great game and awesome job as always!

Brendan Dean - Snack Monster Review

I played snack monster with my 4 1/2 year old nephew and two of his cousins (aged 8 and 13). It was very easy to set up and explain the rules (the 4 1/2 year old got it pretty quickly and the others had no issues) and we played with actual snacks versus the tokens. We played two rounds before the kids wanted to play a different game, and after that I asked them each what they liked and didn't like.

Likes: both the 4 1/2 and 8 year old really enjoyed the cards when you got to eat the snacks like an animal - that was by far their favourite part of the game. The 13 year old appreciated how easy it was to set up and that there wasn't a lot of preparation.

Comments: The 4 1/2 and 8 year old both enjoyed it the two rounds we played but after that didn't have interest in playing more. They also sometimes didn't like when they went to stop the spinner but someone also did and stopped it before them. The 13 year old wasn't a fan of having people choose who got to get snacks (she felt that she didn't get chosen as much as the others did) and thought that the cards should also have some stakes to them, such as either (a) having to give snacks to others or (b) if you don't eat the snack like the card says, then you give up a snack. They all agreed that they would not have wanted to play with the tokens if we didn't have snacks.

Overall thoughts: I think this is a good idea, as its a quick set up and easy for 4+ to get and play, however I think there could be a few improvements,…
