We busted this game out with the family in town for the 4th of July Holidays and it went bonkers! Everyone loved the fast paced action! There are word challenges that tease the team to guess with one word clues, sit-down charades, which somehow feels harder than full on free moving, and drawing challenges where you actually draw directly on Mr. Pigeon. The poor pigeon looked liked it had done some hard time in the slammer with all the body art it had on it by the time we were done. Lots of gleeful screams from adults and kids alike when the pigeon finally did explode. Which is just a complete BLAST to watch, but an absolute rattle to be the one holding the pigeon. The best part of this game, there is no limit to players, which is one of the hardest things about family or friend gatherings. Most games have a player cap and this one, like several other games from Exploding Kittens, allows for a roaringly fun massive game.

Exploding Pigeon is kind of like Hot Potato—there’s a timer involved and that same frantic, pass-it-before-it’s-too-late energy—but with a lot more going on. Depending on what you roll, you might end up drawing something, acting it out charades-style, giving a one-word clue, or doing something else entirely. It adds this extra layer of pressure that reminded me of playing Perfection as a kid—fun, but with just enough stress to keep everyone yelling and laughing.

I played with a group of seven people, split into two teams. Ages ranged from 12 to 48, and every single person had an absolute blast. It’s one of those games where you’re all cracking up in the middle of the chaos, whether you’re the one fumbling through a round or just watching someone else try to beat the clock.

My one complaint is that if you accidentally slam or shake it too hard, the timer will just quit so you have to restart it.

It’s fast-paced and absolutely ridiculous in the best way. If you’re looking for a party game, I highly recommend Exploding Pigeon. This might be my favorite out of all the EK games.

I got this for my son for Christmas, and we all (from 9 to 75 years old) love it! The only thing it needs is more word cards. We have played it twice over two days, each time going through most of the cards, front and back. During our second game, it was a lot easier to guess the words because we remembered them from the first game the day before. So a large expansion pack would be wonderful. Otherwise, we'll have to put it away and wait until we forget the words before we can play again. But even so, it's incredibly fun!
