Exploding Kittens: The Board Game is a fun, unpredictable, and at times delightfully chaotic experience. It’s a fantastic adaptation of the original card game, bringing the same quirky humor and tension to a new format that feels fresh while staying true to its roots.

We’ve played it several times with great enjoyment. The board adds a new layer of strategy without overcomplicating the gameplay. Even players unfamiliar with the original Exploding Kittens can jump right in and have a blast, though chances are they’ll want to try the original card game afterward!

The game is fast-paced, full of surprises, and perfect for casual game nights. One small wish would be the possibility of adding extra action cards or expansion content in the future to keep the replayability even higher.

Highly recommended for fans of the original and newcomers alike!

If you are a fan of the Exploding Kittens card game, you are going to love this board game. You can play as six characters, including fan-favourites like Taco Cat, Watermelon Cat, and Sushi Cat. The artwork, illustrations, and attention to detail are evident in this one.

Setting it up is super simple and follows the usual quick and easy instructions that you can expect from Exploding Kitten games. The goal of the game is to reach the end, but you might need to make a few attempts to get the exact move count needed to win.

The one feature that stands out in this game is the interactive "flipping" board, which lets you switch the game board between Calm Mode and Chaos Mode. Switching between these two modes made the game exciting as it added an element of unpredictability just like the card game.

I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun party game to play with up to 6 players that is quick to learn and set up.

I wanted to see how sea-worthy this game was, so I brought it on a boat to play with my family. We tried it out and really liked it. My son and I have played about a billion hands of the original game, and we really like how much of that translated into the board game, as well as the new cards. I was a little scared about switching modes but it worked out totally fine...zero problems. We enjoyed it and have played a bunch of times since. Definitely a keeper, and we're already getting lots of games in since they're all pretty quick.

Overall, we were impressed with the quality of the board itself. The magnets worked well, and it was fun to see the board change. It does feel as though it skews to a younger artist. I enjoyed how quick each round of the game was - it made it feel much more accessible. I do have some concern with the longevity of the board, and how long until it no longer opens as it is supposed to, especially if a younger audience were playing with it.

Personally, I’m not sure how often I will be reaching for it, as I enjoy the card game version better. The mechanics of trading with the person furthest behind started to get a little silly, and felt more like chutes and ladders, and since the Explosions were planned for, you were never surprised when you exploded, as you do in the card game. Having those on the board removed some of the excitement and strategy - it felt more like a basic “board game”.

As always with Exploding Kittens realm cards, the art and design on the cards was exceptional, and we enjoyed reading every card to see the fun joke.
